CheckIn Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 17 May 2026

CheckIn is a private iPhone app published by Model Train Technology LLC for use within a single family. By installing or using the app you agree to these terms.

What the app does

CheckIn lets one user (typically an elderly family member or their caregiver) tap a button to send a brief status text — "I'm OK" or "I NEED HELP" — to a manually-entered list of family-member phone numbers. Messages are delivered as standard SMS via Twilio. Recipients may incur standard messaging rates from their carrier.

Not an emergency service

CheckIn is not an emergency response system. It does not contact 911, paramedics, fire, police, or any monitoring service. In a life-threatening situation, call 911 (or your local emergency number) directly. Do not rely on CheckIn as a substitute for emergency or medical alert services.

Delivery is best-effort

SMS delivery depends on cellular networks and third-party services (Twilio, Cloudflare, the recipient's carrier). Messages may be delayed, undelivered, or lost. The app provides on-screen confirmation only that the message was accepted for sending — not that it was received.

Recipient consent

The app's user is responsible for obtaining each recipient's consent before adding their phone number to the recipient list, and for removing recipients who later ask to be removed. Messages are intended to be sent only between immediate family members.

No warranty

The app is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. Model Train Technology LLC is not liable for missed messages, delivery failures, mistaken use of the app, or any consequence of relying on the app in place of professional emergency or medical services.

Changes

These terms may be updated. Continued use of the app constitutes acceptance of the current terms.
